The Hornsund Polish Polar Station, named after Stanisław Siedlecki, is located in the South Spitsbergen National Park, on the largest island of the Svalbard archipelago. Since 1978 continuous programmes and measurements have been conducted in the field of meteorology, seismology, geomagnetism and environmental studies, within the international observatory network. The station is a unique and modern interdisciplinary scientific platform and laboratory that carries out research projects aimed at better understanding of the functioning of the environment of polar regions and the changes it undergoes. The Polish Polar Station in Hornsund also participates in numerous scientific projects, both Polish and international.
