The workshop is for all partners and staff involved in the EDU-ARCTIC program. It will help familiarise participants with the recommendations on educational methodologies from teachers and pupils for the program, as well as discuss guidelines for implementing them. It will also be an opportunity to work together in order to find the most effective methodologies for communicating scientific research to girls and boys. Professional methodologists will give advice on effective and innovative ways of using e-learning tools with pupils, and demonstrate in a presentation how this was done during the EDUSCIENCE project. Staff from the Hornsund Polish Polar Station will also talk about how their experiences with conducting educational activities.

The objective of the workshop is to practice the ability to carry out the EDU-ARCTIC program in a professional manner as well as analyse the proposed methods of working with end-users and stakeholders.

Workshop attendees will discuss the key tools of the EDU-ARCTIC, including the project portal, its layout and functionalities, and the Polarpedia (on-line Arctic glossary and educational resource). The Cisco Webex tool and Kahoot Application for interactive online lessons with schools will also be tested, and all prepared promotional tools will be reviewed and discussed.

The workshop will take place on the Horizon II research vessel, which has years of experience hosting educational programmes for schools in Poland (EDUSCIENCE) during cruises. Workshop participants will have a rare opportunity to visit a Marine Laboratory in Ny-Allesund as well as a few of stations, including the Hornsund Polish Polar Station. The development of nature-based tourism in the Ice Fjord will be discussed.

Above all, there will be an excursion to a glacier near the station, where workshop participants will have a good chance of seeing polar bears in the wild!

The workshop will be a good opportunity for partners to exchange experiences and best practices so that the planned project activities with schools, teachers, students are conducted as effectively as possible
