The workshops will take place in September and October 2017. Teachers form Western and Southern Europe will meet in Paris, France, whilst teachers from Central and Eastern Europe will meetin in Warsaw, Poland, and teachers from northern Europe in Oslo, Norway.
Each workshop will provide methodology training sessions coupled to the theoretical didactical themes. Meetings will be mainly conducted in the form of active workshops aiming to:
• give more information about the EDU-ARCTIC project
• train teachers to use the project tools effectively
• introduce teachers to the EDU-ARCTIC portal
• educate teachers on earth science issues, so they feel more comfortable preparing the lessons
• provide additional educational and promotional materials
One of the objectives of the workshops is to prepare the teachers for their new role as ambassadors of the project in their countries. Teachers will be encouraged to become local leaders/ambassadors of the project and to distribute information about it in their countries to enhance the educational program’s audience. Another major objective is to gather the teachers’ and educators’ opinions on the proposed program and their recommendations for improvements of functionalities or topics that could be introduced within the project in order to adjust the program to users’ needs and organisational conditions.
In order to gather as many countries‘ representatives as possible, at least one teacher from each country will receive a special grant to cover travel expenses. Accommodation, food and workshop materials will be provided by the organisers. As the number of places is limited (20-25 teachers in France and Norway, up to 50 teachers in Poland), the criterion is the degree of participation in the project, calculated in the EDU-GAME points, collected until the deadline for registration (May 15). Among the applicants, the highest scorer from each participating country will be selected to receive a travel grant.
Remaining admissions will be awarded to the other highest scorers of those countries (within the limit of grants available). Moreover, if you agree to conduct a short presentation (ca. 10 minutes) or present a poster on how you use EDU-ARCTIC program in your classroom, you will have a greater chance to be chosen.
If you don't need a grant for travel or accommodation, your application may be accepted with no other conditions.
We are looking forward to receiving your application forms! The registration is open unil 15th May.
